Travelling to the Canaries from Belfast

Anyone able to clear something up for me?

Ireland is on Spain's orange list, so no need for Covid testing. However if I'm flying from Belfast, that means I'm arriving from the UK even though I live in Ireland.

    So test or no test?

To top it off, the Canarian Governor announced today that rapid antigen tests are sufficient, but the Spanish government (who presumably control the airport) have not agreed.

    Tis a muddled mess.

Never mind, just had it confirmed. The restrictions are based on where you are coming from, not your home address.

Have you booked. Nice airport option if you lived halfway between Dublin and there

Already booked. I'm in Donegal and got flights from Belfast for £45.

It would take a hell of a cheap flight to persuade me to fly from Dublin.

And a day after I cough up £300 for Covid tests, the UK government put the Canaries back on the sh*t list.

You live in Donegal so why does it matter unless the flight has been cancelled. Upon arrival in Belfast you are transiting into Ireland and thus Ireland’s covid rules will apply to you.

1 - Ireland's Covid rules also have a 14 day isolation on return from abroad.

2 - I work in the NHS in the UK.

    Do they?

My negative test result from Randox upon returning from Mexico said I was free to return to work the following day after receiving my results.

I didn't realise you could get cleared in ROI by a negative test, but it's not the case in the North.

I couldn't return to work in the NHS regardless of a negative return test. I'd have to take 2 weeks unpaid leave.

Yeah my girlfriend is a nurse in a private hospital. She's away home for the Christmas and they still require a 2 week quarantine. Defeats the purpose of testing in the first place but rules are rules I suppose.

I am flying from Belfast airport myself, would the negative covid text from the HSE be a valid test?
    Cheers guys
