    Stunning race in prospect

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 823 ✭✭✭Coneygree

It'll probably have a better lineup than the Ryanair in March.

I think it might be a no bet race. There's too many variables and questions going in for me.

Took Samcro at 13/2 still think he is the definition of a Hype horse but had a spare 20 quid for the craic

He doesn't win enough races but he has been tried at grade 1 level since the get go. I am rooting for Melon I hope this is his day. I have had a saver on Battleoverdoyen he is massively underrated.

    Really looking forward to it.

Serious fog around lads. Don't be surprised if racing is off at Punchestown.

Apart from what shines outta my arse, no.

I suppose if you fancy Allaho for the Ryanair you'd have to be back him now at 10s.

Which I do and which I have.

Fog starting to lift and sun trying to get through. I think they'll be good to go.

    Samcro a NR

Just as well Slattsy , I was going to pick your arse up and bring it down there otherwise.

    Samcro flopped on heavy before.

    Cmon Melon .

min should be too good for these if ready to roll

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 823 ✭✭✭Coneygree

The crow a non runner for the Durkan. Might go straight to the Lexus now? Not an ideal lead up but 3m pretty pretty please.

I've no bet, but I think I might side with Chris's Dream for the JD. However if Min is ready to go then he should win.

    EW plays

    1.55 Mount Ida
    2.10 Sargent Lightfoot
    2.30 Commanding Presence
    2.45 Minella Encore
    3.00 Shakeytry
    3.20 Bigirononhiship
    3.40 Aslukwoodhavit

I don't like his price, if he was all that fancied he would be shorter. evens and odds against the last 2 years, someone is not on if he is around 2/1 or 7/4. It is a deep race.

Chacun Pour Soi hates heavy. I am not sure what he has to beat, how come he wasn't sent to Sandown yesterday?

Big bet on Battleoverdoyen for me. Min was nearly beat by Hardline last year and Hardline had race fitness, just like Battler. Elliott is in white hot form past few weeks.

They got the price right anyways.

I don't know why it wasn't in Sandown yesterday?

The fence in bits after Cashback there. Good to see him up ok

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

He would want to be jumping better than that to win a CC. Although not a strong division.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 823 ✭✭✭Coneygree

Looked rusty, should be tonnes of improvement in him. I do wonder how he'll handle the hill.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 126 ✭✭Anniepowaa

No horse will look spectacular on that ground, he is very good and done it easily while looking a right fat bar steward will improve a huge amount

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,142 ✭✭✭akelly02

Doubt altior will be shaking in his boots

Chacun done what he needed to do tho

Good to hear see tornado flyer run well he was a very promising sort at one point and hopefully will finally kick on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 225 ✭✭Morleystreet

Commentator: I can hear them coming

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 823 ✭✭✭Coneygree

Seems like Min and Tornado Flyer were the only two who remembered to turn on their fog lights.

Worrying to see Allaho drop back so early, hope he's alright. BOD the same.

Melon might end up being a perfect pace setter for Al Boum in March.

Did Le Richebourg finish ok? Never got into but I hope he didnt hurt himself

Melon would have to be going for the Ryanair now, it may turn out that he is overhyped, he doesn't win enough. Tornado Flyer is a head scratcher, he has improved a half stone at least.

Fair play to Min, some yoke and 3 John Durkans takes some doing. Cry baby will be delighted.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 9,078 ✭✭✭IAMAMORON

Honest question and if I am overthinking this let me know, but would the fog spook a horse? To the point that they mightn't run well because off it?

Pulled up, he should have gone to Cork.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,036 Mod ✭✭✭✭The Mig

    Punchestown finito

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

Next race here at Cork there's a horse called Doldido that finished a few lengths behind yesterdays runaway handicap hurdle winner Flooring Porter. Gone each way in an open race where the fav too short.

Absolutely. Even jumping over obstacles in the yard in the fog you can notice the difference.

It's an evolutionary trait. Anything that hinders visibility is going to cause more caution.
