It's official, I'm never listening to Newstalk ever again! Besides the fact that nearly 50% of the time it's just ads.....it's that 1 ad that's driven me mad.

Quotedevil.ie! Arrrghhhhhhh. It's on every 10 minutes and I'm driven demented.

Any other annoying/repetitive ads that drive you crazy?

They've got one hell of a quote though.

You probably don't want liveline or ray darcy.

I never listen to commercial radio for 2 reason.

    1. The contrived playlists
    2. The ads

There is literally no good reason to listen to commercial radio when we have phones with bluetooth at our literal finger tips. Memory cards are dirt cheap and with a bit or browsing you can amass a very respectable CD collection (to rip) from charity shops for about $100.

Zero need to ever listen to commercial radio ever again. Ever. EV4R!

Where I live there are two independent college radio stations that regularly have great music shows with very little chatter, no ads and only the odd jingle every 30 mins. They blow all the commercial stations out of the water for quality and variety of music. The no ads seals the deal.

I listen to newstalk ,moncrieff, radio 2fm dave fanning show
Theres not many radio shows that are either funny or entertaining on irish radio .Once an ad comes on i put on a podcast for 2 minutes .I think theres a rule there can only be x minutes ads on every hour ,a station with 50 per ad time would be illegal.i hate loud ads, like on 2fm, someone screaming 2fmmmmmm at the end of every ad break.
I like the music and the presenters on sunshine radio, its a pity they only seem to have 200 songs which they play every day.
bbc radio 2 has good shows which you can just listen to online anytime .
IF an ad comes on tv i press mute or switch over to see whats on bbc tv .
i cant imagine why would anyone listen to liveline in the middle of a pandemic , it would be depressing.
if i listen to radio its a classic hits station or the programs mentioned above.
if you have a phone with podcasts or music on it why would you spend 2 minutes listening to ads ?

    Agreed.
Screaming ads every few minutes - do the station owners/producers think we are still living in the 1950’s/1990’s with no alternatives? Apart from the playlists that are stuck 40 years back in the 1980’s they also seem to thing a mindless inname prattle from two ‘presenters’ on whatever was in the oaper/on social media 3 days ago will keep an audience engaged.

As for ads - why are they allowing the same Voice Over artists do the same ads played one after the next? Or also he the voice rhat is the Presenter for the show? Im getting bewildered as to whether Im listening to innane prattle, an ad for bread, an ad for mcdonalds or an insurance firm. I know they pay them peanuts of at all but ffs - its become an absolute farce. Streaming music from spotify or olaying fro youtube is the future - or back to digitised CD’d .

Newstalk seem to have a pool of only around 10 woeful ads that they repeat constantly.
The one that does my head in the most is the guy in the crevasse looking for his accountant. Do people get paid to come up with stuff like that?
