PAyment dispute with UK company

I have a contract for affiliate marketing services with a UK company.
They were supposed to recruit affiliates to promote my products spending 15 hours a week doing so.
The results were terrible and I highly doubt that they spent anywhere near to that time trying to recruit affiliates as i was able to recruit plenty myself in much less time.
I cancelled the contract and have received an invoice for payment but I am not happy to pay it for such a disastrous campaign that was loss making and very poorly run.
If i don't pay or if i pay we'll say half the amount (which i think would be generous given the circumstances) where would i stand from a legal stand point given i signed a contract.
The contract said that they would recruit affiliates, manage existing affiliates etc but there was no target as to how many they needed to recruit.
Says any dispute would be dealt with in the English courts.

If i don't pay can they do anything given its a different jurisdiction? Would Brexit have any impact on this?

Leaving aside the details of my case, is it possible to discuss the enforcement of a uk/Irish contract in Ireland pre and post brexit?

Given that you're looking to hire affiliates in the UK, it would appear you'll have assets there to make it worth them going to court for payment. The contract says that it will be dealt with in UK courts, which makes it simpler for them.
How long was the contract supposed to be in place?
    What notice/termination period was specified?
How long did it actually run for?

You've cancelled unilaterally, so you're liable to pay them what you agreed to for the period they worked unless you can show that they weren't actually doing the work.
