    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a single din android radio that takes a sim card?

I've been searching online and don't seem to be able to find one.

The reason for the SIM card is I want to be able to stream.dkrevtky to the radio, but I also want to be able to track the vehicle via the radio. Logging into Google should allow me to find the radio in the event of the car going missing.

    Thanks

Would it not be wiser to hide a phone in the car, plugged in, with a wifi hotspot turned on, stick a gomo sim in it. If your cars robbed, they might remove the radio.

That’s assuming there are radios that use wifi in the first place :)

Problem with that is the phone will drain the battery. The radio being ignition live, means when the car is running, the radio only runs (and hence have the connection).

The car may only get driven for a week or 2 and then not for weeks so something that isint "on" unless it's running suits better!

I’m not sure if a radio like you are looking for exists.

It might be easiest to get a dedicated car GPS tracker put into the car which can be hidden properly & is unlikely to ever be found even if the car is taken. They use minimal power & are normally used with a SIM card installed. Many of them allow you to check your vehicles location by text message, without alerting whoever may be driving it. If you can access whatever you are streaming on your normal current phone you could then change the radio to something you can run audio from your phone through.
Much easier & readily available from any decent in-car specialist.

Thanks for that. I had a GPS tracker on the car, that was set to only wake up on vibration. I found it a bit inconsistent.

I might see if I can find an WiFi radio even, and then ignition live a USB port and stick a dongle onto it. Using a phone means when it does, it would need to be manually powered up (assuming the car battery dies)

Edit: You've given me an idea though. I might see is there a way of autopowering on a phone when it receives a charge
