    Hoping someone can advise.

Perhaps Im mis reading and not understanding the guidance I have read on Citizens information.

I work PT, 3 days per week. Monday - Wednesday every week. I am owed payment for 4 bank holidays this year.

I was under the impression as Monday is a normal working day for me I should be paid a usual full day?

I have been paid but only 20% of my normal working week.

    Could someone clarify?

If you're part time and work bank holidays you should be paid a premium rate I think, like time and a half.

If you don't work, I would've thought you don't get paid but I guess it's down to your contract of employment.

If a bank holiday is a normal work day for you, then you get time off in lieu or payment in lieu

But not a full day as you only work 3 days.

So payment in lieu would be 3/5ths of a day.

If your daily rate was €100, then 3/5ths is €60, so a 3 day bank holiday week would be €360 v €300 normal week.

So 20% extra of the 3 day payment is correct.

Just to clarify, I didnt work the bank holidays.

Citizens information has a section on PT employees, and it states that if the holiday falls on a day the employee normally works then the employee is entitled to a days pay.

It then goes on to say that if the bank holiday falls on a say that you dont normally work then the 1/5 rule applies.

Edit to add. I have also checked the WRC and Employment rights Ireland and all say the same thing. So back to my employer I go.
