We all work in different industries and roles that have varying aspects of demands such as
    Deadlines,
    Working in the public eye
    Competitiveness,
    Travel demands (pre covid )
    Physical demands
    Environmental conditions
    Hazards encountered
    Risk to your own client
Risk to the life of another person
Customer / client demands on projects
Responsible for Customers and company money

Do you feel stress / pressure in your role?

    Is it worth it?

    How do you handle it?

What advice can you give to others ?

I'm nearly finished my trade as a electrician on my last few .months, started in my late 20s after working in loads of different positions that I just did not enjoy and couldn't see myself doing for the next 30 years.

    Do I feel pressure/ stress
    Cant say I do no
    Finished work early on Fridays
Work days go pretty fast as kept busy never board In work .

    Advice
What made you work in your line of work in the first place ? Is the salary worth it do you enjoy life or does your job take to much of your time ?
    Do you enjoy it?
Do you do anything you enjoy after work or just get home and sit down to watch tv then go to bed?

  • I have worked in stressful jobs in the past, I wouldn't consider my current job that stressful.

I'm qualified to work in higher paying jobs than I do now but I wouldn't do them because I don't want to work in the type of companies that have these positions and pay the big money because you're selling your soul for salary.
My job at the moment keeps me on my toes and I'm busy but it's not stressful.

I turn up a 9am, do whatever job is planned, do it at my own pace, go home at 5. No stress, no pressure, once I leave at 5 that's me completely done with work until the next morning

In my last job very pressurised, in terms of responsiblity and hours/unpaid weekends worked. The context was a company that kept reducing staff and letting the rest pick up the slack. Very much a boiling lobster experience. So at some stage you have to realise there must be a work/life balance, and leave if the pressure is too much.

Im not liking how Im answering the above.

Most telling - absolutely not worth it and id actively tell people to avoid my industry

    Part owner/ director

I used to work mad hours but I've set clear boundaries with my work hours and communication outside of the office with clients and other directors. Ive never worked harder than before 9 to 5 approx weekdays. I don't get a minutes peace but once I leave it in the evening my business phone is switched off. I have a private phone no one connected to me in business has the number for and I'm not logged into my email account.
The other directors who are larger shareholders can not switch off but they actually don't achieve much in there days IMO much like I used to be.

Fully responsible for one entire section of a global software business, multi million-dollar sales target. It's a reasonably new job so no major pressure for now, no crazy hours, but it's always stressful just knowing you are responsible for delivering this business to be successful and worrying about what may happen if it doesn't. I've never really done mad hours apart from one job for a year, all others can get done in 9-5/6.

Never understood people who are happy on 30k and 9-5.

It's brutal, absolute sh1t! I was on the PUP for 6 months and I'd frankly prefer to be put back on it again.

I am trying my best to get into the public service though!

EDIT: Not stressful, just absolutely boring..

I'm currently a stay-at-home dad. Key part of the role is keeping two children alive.

It is 168 hours a week and the pay is dreadful but I wouldn't say it is stressful.
