    Hi

Apologies if I'm in the wrong forum.

Triple sec or Cointreau is a component of a Margerita cocktail, would it be possible to make my own please?
Spirits are a good price at the moment so wondered if possible.

Yes I sometimes make one with orange peel and cheap brandy and after about 48 hours it is ready to go
    - note online recipes usually call for vodka and longer steeping time.

I don't use sugar but refrigerate the mixture.

This will give you some idea of the approach:

When you say cheap brandy, something from Aldi / Lidl?

Which do you think would be better for margarita's Vodka based or Brandy based.

If I was making my own, I'd probably opt for vodka. Grand Marnier is made with Cognac, if you prefer to make yours with brandy instead of vodka.

Yeah Tesco Aldi Lidl all have generic brandy for 14-15.

Probably for margarita vodka would work ok and might be a couple euros cheaper.

This is callback to the carbonara thread on AH, though maybe it's not as much of a widely-know cultural reference as I thought :o
