Hi. Im considering buying a 17 year old car but Im concerned about insuring it. I have a daily driver (Allianz) and a classic (FBD). What options do I have to insure it, can I insure it on as a classic with limited mileage. Wont be using it as a daily. I know it was done in the past but insurers are tightening up with many now strictly 20+ years.

If this is discussed in detail on another thread please direct me to same as I searched and couldn't find a discussion that helped me.

Thanks in advance as any advice very much appreciated.

Is a classic car not 30 years as is my 2nd car as it is taxed as a classic and used slightly every now and again.

I would consider asking if it can be insured and how much as companies dont like old cars.

Thanks for getting back greasepalm. Yes a classic is 30 years or older but some companies can and do insure younger cars as classics. Autoline I think does so but recently some have been finding it more difficult to get their 17 / 18 year old cars insured this way. would multi car insurance options help and are they out there?

Not sure as i work on repairs in a garage and can drive any vehicle with a garage policy.

No idea if something like go compare might have ideas on insuring old cars and price structure.
