SSD recomendation

    I currently have a MSI H97 gaming 3 MB https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/H97-GAMING-3/Specification


    I see some good deals popping up on amazon. Whats the best bang for buck SSD thats compatible with my MB? Willing to spend around E100. I do plan on upgrading the pc next year and would like to use the SSD in that so future proofing would be nice. 1TB if possible

    I think you'd need a sata cable, (there might be a couple in the box your mobo came in, else you might have to buy one separately)

    Your board has one m.2 slot "1 x 2280 Key M(PCIe Gen2 x2/SATA)

    I'm not sure if the newer m.2 drives would work with it- maybe one of the other lads here would confirm.


    If you've no SSD currently, would advise backing up everything and reinstalling windows on the SSD to get max benefit.

    Should run an NVMe drive - just comparatively slowly. Check the BIOS options to be sure. Really though between a SATA drive and a top of the range NVMe drive there is very little real world difference in game load times.

    The one above is the one I'd go for and maybe get a NVMe drive when you upgrade. If you want an M.2 drive now and it's going to be your only drive when you upgrade maybe this as a middle ground.

    It's QLC NAND (Memory) so it's endurance is lower than the slightly dearer ones but in all honesty you'll most likely upgrade it long before it becomes an issue. Just noting it incase you're doing a lot of video editing or something write heavy.
