Replacement debit card TSB

Yesterday I ordered a replacement debit card (current one is damaged).

Customer service said the same as last time - current card is valid until I activate the new one. Can be used in shops and online.

So I was ordering a grocery delivery earlier and the payment wouldn’t go through.

I called TSB and apparently they changed the expiry date so now I can’t shop online and only at a checkout. The guy claimed this was always the policy and the other chap gave me wrong information.

When did the TSB start doing this? It doesn’t make any sense to stop online shopping for a damaged.
