    Hi All,

I've a 2009 1.4 L petrol Opel Astra. Burning a little oil but running fine otherwise and I failed the NCT on emissions, on high idle CO:

    Engine/Oil Temperature 84C

Low Idle (770rpm) CO 0.03 vol% HC 18 ppm PASS

    High Idle ( 3,100rpm) Lambda 1.01 CO 0.31 vol% HC 41 ppm FAIL

The oil temperature isn't as high as it could be and the car has just been used for short drives since March, would dipetane and a long drive before the NCT see me through a retest ? :D

    Thanks!

CO high idle limit is 0.30% vol, you have 0.31%

A fuel system cleaner and a drive on the motorway in 4th gear for 20 mins should work. Get car nice and toasty for a while to push all the cobwebs out.

Thanks will give it a go as it's so close to passing!

Did 80km in 4th gear on the motorway beforehand and a fuel system cleaner earlier in the week , easily passed today!
