Garage bench

Hi I'm thinking of getting a steel workbench for the garage. I'll be putting 220v sockets on each end of it. Just wondering if I need to earth the table when I'm wiring the sockets. I'd prefer to earth it through the sockets. If I ever weld on the bench would the earth make any trouble or would it be ok . Thanks for any help

According to these, not required but a nice to have in case of the very rare possibility a live wire comes into contact with the bench.

Thanks for that ,great advice there . Think I'll miss the earth as said if I was holding a live tool and touches the bench I would get a greater shock because it was earthed and all the current would pass through me. The chances of the bench coming live is very minor and I might even relocate the sockets elsewhere to prevent running any cables on the steel work itself . Thanks again
