Respray cloudiness

I hit a pillar with my wife's car, which left the door quite badly scraped and dented. I sourced a replacement door from a scrap yard and got a body shop to replace it and spray to match the car.

The day I picked it up I examined it and it looked fine, but it was a dull wet day. A couple of months later when washing and waxing the car on a sunny day we noticed that the door didn't quite seem to match the rest of the car. It was like the clear coat was slightly cloudy or hazy. Fast forward another couple of months to this weekend and we noticed that the door was full of scratches, as if it had scraped off briars. Now, it probably did indeed scrape off a hedge, but the funny thing is that the scrapes are only on the resprayed door. There's none on the wing before the door, and the scrapes stop at the end of the door and don't continue to the rear door. I tried scraping my fingernail along it and sure enough it left a mark, which doesn't happen on the rest of the car.

So it seems like there's something up with the clear coat? Before I talk to the body shop, I was just wondering if anyone here in the know would be able to explain how or why this would happen?

It's a different paint so will always be slightly different. And you scraped it off briars. Different brand laquers can wear differently to factory laquers.

    Just get it polished up.

You should bring it back to where it was done. If the body shop are reputable they will stand over it. I had a job done on a car that I wasn't happy with and had to bring it back for rectification. It was sorted and body colours should match perfectly.
