Hi folks, here’s a tricky one for you …

We have a Triton T150Z Pumped Thermostatic shower (9.5kW) which gets a lot of use but has recently stopped working properly. The shower works perfectly for the first person using it in the morning. It is powered on via a ceiling pull cord switch and starts normally with the Start/Stop switch. Water heats to the desired temperature and pressure is normal throughout the shower. So far so good.

But when the user pushes the Start/Stop switch to end the shower, power to the heating elements is cut and the water runs cold, as expected, but the pump continues to run indefinitely. Previously, at the end of a shower, the pump would run for a further 10 seconds or so after the Start/Stop button was pushed, i.e. just long enough to remove any residual heat from the heating elements. But the pump just now continues to run without stopping and the shower must be stopped using the ceiling pull cord switch.

If power is then restored to the shower using the ceiling pull cord switch, the pump starts immediately, without pushing the Start/Stop button, but the water remains cold. The shower will only work properly again if it is left powered off for some considerable time. So in practice, this means that only one person can get a hot shower each morning.

Has anyone experienced this problem before? Any suggestions as to the cause and possible solution? Any advice/tips would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Phone Maynooth Shower Maintenance. They are triton Ireland. They will give you a rough idea of the cost of repair. I've never seen the logic in putting an expensive PCB board inside a shower. It could be as high as 300 euro to repair this model & very often it better to replace with a Triton t90sr. It was never intended for domestic use. It was designed for hospital and nursing homes and should be recalibrated by triton every 6 months or so. For some strange reason in Ireland you need to install this shower in the home if you want the grant. Once they break most people replace with the T90sr rather than repair.
