Natural Point of Aim

Question on NPA, how accurate does it need to be? Reticle on the bull or reticle on an A4 page? Surely there is a point of diminishing returns at some stage?

Secondary question, same topic. Rear bag, PRS style vs bunny ear set up. Surely the PRS TAB Gear bag requires "muscling" to be on target? How does this marry up with NPA?

In other news my wife is sick of me dry firing! (Edit - I see how that reads, no smart comments!)

NPA is one of the principles of marksmanship so it cant be looked at on its own, it is part of the process so it leads onto the the position must be firm enough to support the firearm which is part of your second question.
So looking at NPA first you want your sight picture on the bull and when you have that achieved you must confirm that by lowering the firearm and closing your eyes and bring the firearm back into the aim if you are not on the bull at this stage adjust your position and re check, keep adjusting your position until your happy that it is repeatable remembering to lower the rifle and close your eyes and bring up to the aim. If you are holding anywhere apart from the bull you will have to muscle to get it on target while shooting, and you don't want that.

Second question, the position and hold must be firm enough to support the firearm. as you mentioned you do not want to be muscling the firearm, by confirming your NPA in step one you should have eliminated it. Now onto bags your aim is to support the firearm so it will depend on what discipline's you shoot. if your shooting benchrest def a benchrest bag as it gives you most support, and a benchrest bag all the time if it is practical, but sometimes it is not, in PRS style shooting it may not be practical so you may have to use a sand sock etc. and as you said you have to squeeze this to use as support. but this is not muscling the firearm or shouldn't be if held right. you are going to move the firearm more while squeezing the trigger. Muscling the firearm comes from you using your muscles to hold and support and point your firearm your skeletal structure should be doing that.
