Medical card and inheritance

My mother is very ill and it is only a matter of time until she passes away. I will for sure inherit something in the region of 80000 euro.
I was wondering when I have to inform the HSE about this inheritance. I asked them and they only told me that I have to inform them about any changes in my circumstances. They seem to be unwilling to give me a more detailed answer.
So I was wondering if someone else was once in a similar situation.
Do I have to inform the HSE as soon as my mother dies?
Or only as of the moment I get my hands on some money? The thing is that there are funeral arrangements expenses, estate has to be wound down, problems with siblings must be solved and the tax affair of my mother also need to be looked in. I also don't know about any other outstanding bills.
Would the day my share of the inheritance is transferred onto my bank account be the day of "change of circumstances"?
What happens if the money comes in bit by bit due to difficulties in the winding down of the estate and not as a lump sum? Do I have to point this out right at the first payment onto the bank account- or do I just keep giving them new dates of "change of circumstances" in line with the incoming money?

I’d wait until the money is in my bank. That’s the day your circumstances change.

  • basically whenever the final sum is in your bank and there’s no further obligations relating to your mothers passing left to come out of it.
