Does this happen with anyone else's box?

My freesat box will record two channels If I have scheduled two events at the same time it will only record one - namely the one that the TV is not already tuned to. Example today BBC Two and Film 4, the unit was tuned into BBC two it recorded Film 4 but not BBC Two, if the box were switched off it would have recorded both with fail regardless of which channel was on when switched off.

It's as if it assumes that I must be watching the channel not recorded when on.

Do you have 2 satellite inputs on it or 1? Likely what is happening is your box is set to record live tv automatically so when you switch on a channel it's recording that channel in a cache which overwrites itself every hour or so meaning that transponder is allocated to that recording so can't be freed up unless box is turned off. Outside of this what can happen is sometimes groups of channels on the same transponder will allow you record multiple channels within this.

Does your box have 2 tuners and 2 cables inserted like a sky + hd box.
Fully wired and check each tuner for a signal as you might only have 1 working tuner.
You should be able to record 3 channels on the same frequency and tp on the same tuner, same with other tuner.

If channels are on a different frequency and tp only 1 at a time.
Usually you record on 1 tuner and view on other and if not cabling issue .

Not a sky box - Manhattan Plaza freesat.

Two inputs, so yeah I can see that its auto recording the channel it's tuned to but not committing it to a permanent file.

Something to remember - switch it off when not watching or looking at swearview.

But if box is a combo you can record on one tuner and view on the other, other boxes have more tuners like a zemma h7s twin sat and saorview.
