I have a second hand 06 car with 75,000 km on the clock (now 76680 km and I don’t know if the air filter was changed at the interval it was supposed to be changed at so I took it out and had a look. It’s fairly black and dust came out of onto the floor when I have it a shake. I forgot to take a picture of the bottom before putting it back in to the car!

    Thank you

Can’t see the dirty side, but filters are cheap so do it.

Yes, I change mine every year, regardless of mileage.... Shouldn't be too expensive and it is an easy install.

Yeah, that's the clean side. Show us the other side. Looks used but not terrible. Are you trying to fault find something?

Thinking it might be causing sluggish acceleration in higher gears in particular but I could be overthinking that, it is a suzuki swift after all and probably just have to work the gears more! Sluggish as in I could be cruising along and the car gradually starts losing speed uphill and regains once the hill levels out no matter how much I put my foot down in fifth gear from cruising in fifth gear on the flat and I'm not talking the Conor pass just an uphill in the road. It's not a slipping clutch as the revs dont increase as the speed drops

That’s just a symptom of a low power engine and not the air filter however like others have said air filters are dirt cheap so replace it every service/year.

For the sake of a tenner I'd buy a new air filter and not start a thread about it

Do the pollen filter aswell op.

You could just vacuum it and re-use. Or is that like re-using a condom?

I don’t think you can vacuum out a condom.

Worth a try... Especially if it's still being worn 😜
