Renault Megane keycard battery low

    Hi all,

I bought a 181 Renault megane about 2 to 3 months ago. I have two keycards with it.
I looked up online that the battery is meant to last 2 years. I have replaced the battery in the original one and the battery ran low again after a month or so.
Now I am on the other keycard that they got from the Renault dealer. I only used it 3 times and the battery is running low again.

    Any ideas?

I should mention I keep it in this leather pouch that came with the car.

Could just be a cheap/dud battery you used. Maybe get the dealer to replace the battery and see.

I found that the 2032 batteries from Lidl are short lived.

Be sure to use proper brand names.

They don't last long when you have keyless entry and go, my last few car's need the batteries replaced every few months.

Is it possible that the case you have it in is restricting the signal so more power being used?

Ah right that might explain it. That was my next step. I'll try that so. Thanks a million. 😊

That's not an OEM pouch and the cut out does not look like it was sold that way, it could be an RF blocking pouch that was modified. Try using it without the pouch.

Those are the renault key pouches or if not they look exactly the same as the ones dealers provide. Those keys are a pain for battery low, constantly changing them on cars. Some of them need to be changed after a couple of months. Just be careful if the battery goes completely flat it won't open or start the car. Best thing is buy a pack of them and just change them as you go
