    Any thoughts on EV?
ID3. Realise it's no 5 series but at 50k annually you have some massive fuel savings. Easily get you in new one.

Out of what you listed and similar I'd be 5 series all day unless you need AWD
If I needed AWD it'd be A6 or maybe A4 avant sline

    Thanks for the input Wildly
Not gone on EV's at the moment and I do like a large car. The Bmw is probably my least favorite I included them as you cant really count them out as they do tick the boxes. Also not a fan of the A6 but like the A7 but they are a bit pricey
    cheers

I actually went from a crossover back to a car 12 months ago.

Always had cars but inherited thx wife's Kuga when she got a new car.
Hated it, it's spongey ride and aversion to corners.
    Went for Leon FR

    Have owned
A4, A6, 3 series,. 5 series,. Golf, Passat, Legacy, insignia over last 15 years.

3 series favourite (was a 330d), then 5 (520d,and a 530 be up with 330) then Leon - although prob very similar to my old a4. Leon has nicer seats and few bits as more modern

Not apples with apples though as the a4 was 03, a6 08 etc

I've had Volvo's superbs alfas (33,155,156) years of American pickups and cars. Now I want some comfort for all the miles I do and some get up and go when needed. And big enough for family stuff when needed 😁😁

I’m actually doing the same process myself . If you want value for money the it has to be S90 . Go for at least a momentum pro edition . They are a great car , lovely to drive and full of smart technology and safe. I miss my S90 - actually miss the the self driving mode as I actually used it a lot due to motorway driving -

    Hi Gus
Can I ask why the Momentum pro over the RDesign, I like the look of them over the momentum etc? I haven't driven the S90 yet
    Cheers

Sorry I should of been clearer: I meant don’t go for the basic model . If you can get the R design then that’s great . Only thing I preferred a lighter interior and pretty sure you can’t get that with the R design.
Still was a lovely car .

Anyone that's doing 50k cannot use an EV. Ironic as they're the one type of user who would save the most and the environment would gain the most, but not one of them has enough range for that kind of driving and then there is the hassle of charging, etc.

    If it's a commute....
    50k km
    Is 1k a week
    200km per day
    All decent EVs have that.

At 50k a year comfort and luxury and being in a car you enjoy and look forward to being in every day should take precedence way beyond any minor saving in fuel.

The op is making some good selections and the next step is to get bums on seats and drive a few.

I was just putting it out there.
It was the first reply to the OP, before he said he didn't want an EV

I don't have an EV myself. I often do 50k annually.
I've a fuel card so know little about them, but if I didn't I'd be researching them

    Minor fuel savings?
    I'd guess €3500 or so.
    Minor to some.....

    Hi
I should have ruled out EV from the beginning, at some stage shortly I will go EV but not now. I never mind the ongoing costs eg fuel, repairs too much. This purchase I just wanted sporty comfort and large car with toys possibly 4wd low mileage and as young as possible. You know the impossible. I always like asking reading for buy advise here as they is lots of different experiences and views also you lot always see the bargains I miss
    Cheers

There’s a 2018 S90 in Newry, D5 AWD, fully loaded as they say. I think it looks fantastic, incredible interior (bar the screen). Looking 22k stg.

I very nearly bought it instead of an e220 only I need an estate.

    Hi Power
I saw that it looks excellent but impossible to get to see it until next week. Probably wouldn't get it vrted until the new year with the way things are would doing it in January ad much to the cost?
    cheers

If you have an invoice dated this month or next I think you should be ok on the vrt front even into January. Nobody knows what will happen after 31st December.

    ID3.

The VW ID3 - Seems to be the default suggestion when anyone asks on this forum about changing the car. Not so long ago it was Skoda this and Skoda that!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

What did you think of the Outlander, thinking of buying a 2014 diesel auto.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 230 ✭✭sentenel

    Hi Dubsparkie
my outlander was a manual and a 2015 but was great about 40 - 45 mpg. I only changed as I wanted something faster and more comfortable. The outlander is basic inside and suffers from poor upholstery on the drivers seat. seven seats on the manual too.
They are solid on the road, big in side, decent 4x4 on mine but a little of an agricultural feel to it. its a very capable motor and I would defo recommend it
    cheers
