Tesco Mobile porting difficulties

    Hi all

I'm trying to port my number from Tesco Mobile to 48.ie but am having difficulty as Tesco two different numbers, an account number which is visible on their online portal and has the format 1.7xxxx, and a customer number which is at the top of my bill, which has the format CONTRXXXXXXXXX but 48 accepts neither.

Someone recommended I cancel my bill pay plan with them first and go on to a PAYG plan but they say they can't cancel till the 16th of December as I'm still in November's billing cycle.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Account number without dots according to this post on boards...
    https://www.boards.ie/ttfpost/108767196

    So instead of...

    1.7xxxx

    ...use...

    17xxxx

However another thread suggests it's the numbers after CONTR....
    https://www.boards.ie/ttfthread/2056767833/
...so try this if the other number doesn't work.

Failing that, contact 48 webchat who may be able to port it directly on their system.

Nice one, that worked. Tesco basically spun me a load of crap about how I'd have to wait a month to be ported. Surely that's against the law?

If it was SIM only with Tesco (ie handset not included), then they can't prevent you porting but they could feign ignorance of the right to number portability at any time and might only give correct information if you mention Comreg rules.

For the benefit of othere who might have same issue, can you clarify which of the numbers worked?

It was the customer no. that you can find on your bill, with the dot removed.
