Car service - local mechanic or dealership?

    Hi
I have my car for circa 2 years - it was preowned and purchased from one of the main dealerships.

Do I need to get it serviced in the main dealership who charge awful prices to protect my warranty? or am I ok to go to my local garage?

    Thanks
    Maura

What are the main dealers charging? Personally I find my Skoda delaer very reasonable.

It would seem that you can get the car serviced elsewhere (EU law ~2004)

I'd check with the dealer or another dealer of the same make. I have been pleasantly surprised at the relative value for basic servicing at some main dealers (compared to some independents)

I could spend up to 300 for a basic service (Ford) - I would get the same job done for half that at my local garage

Depends on year of car/make in my eyes

Yeah but depend on year of car main dealer service history will make it easier to sell and get bit higher resell value.i would pay a bit more for dealer service car anyway

Think about what the next owner will think when they look at your car.
If you bought your car would indy stamps make you walk away?

If was me I would dealer service it for a year more anyway if all previous services are dealer done as 2017 is fairly new full main dealer service history would make easier sale when you get rid of it

What price difference dealer service vs independent service on ford might not be massive difference

    Doesn’t a 2017 Ford have a huge extended warranty on it? 7 years / 100kkm

I’d check that as I think the extended part is subject to main dealer servicing?
