NEDC is the old model/system for determining a car's CO2 emissions. I believe this system is being replaced by WLTP which is meant to give a more accurate and real-world representation of CO2 emissions.

NEDC - New European Driving Cycle
WLTP- Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure

A load of nonsense when you think of what VW were up to with their emissions.

Where have you seen this mentioned?

Just spotted that they have changed the basis that they are accessing motor tax for 2021 cars.

It looks as if it will be more expensive to tax 2021 models than non 2021 models.

Doesn't make sense taxing a 2020 registered model and a 2021 model differently

it does to them. To make up for the low emission tax giveaway incentive. Government never do without.

You obviously weren’t around in 2008 when they introduced the ‘chape tax’ and people buying the exact same car could tax it for almost €500 less than the poor bugger who bought their car the previous year.

A friend of mine still raves about how he bought his diesel Accord in June 2007 and his neighbour bought an identical car (even same colour) in Jan 08 and there was a €700 difference in tax between the two.

Except that it was 1 July 2008 and there were swings and roundabouts, some went down and some went up.
