Basically I live in an apartment in the Leopardstown/Stillorglan area but have no parking spot and no spaces for rent at the moment.

There is a few estates around about 5 minutes from my apartment (just behind the Lep Inn) which seem to have ample parking there without the need to park outside someone's house. Would there be any issues with doing this?

    Thanks in advance

Legally, no, assuming there's no double yellow lines of course. The locals may not be too pleased but once the estate is not private anyone is free to park.
The old Dublin road may be an option for you, quite a number of cars park there and there's no householders to upset.

    Keep an eye on parkpnp.com

Another option is to look at various driveways close to you and see if some always have a free parking space.

Then approach the householder with a proposal to rent the space for a fee.

You may find quite a few as "kids" have flown the nest or they are widowed and there may be a space that just doesn't get used.

They may also like the security of a second "active" car in the driveway.

Thats not a bad option. If you were prepared to pay someone an agreedfee you could have easy access to Luas and fairly secure parking
