Pup and a baby

    Hi all looking for opinions,

My partner and I have a large breed dog (5years old) who has been the centre of attention up until now, she has pups at the moment. We live in the country and she has a lot of room to run around and exercise securely.

My partner is pregnant also with our first child. We think it is a good idea to keep a pup as it will keep our dog company when the baby comes along. Also the mother will be able to pass on her good traits to the pup as her eventual replacement as she is beginning to age at this stage. I understand the extra work that comes along with a second dog.

What are your opinions on this? Anyone with similar experiences after having a baby?
