Air to Water noise levels (new build)

We have a Mitsubishi ecodan air to water system in our new build.

The noise when running can be heard throughout the house. It's a very loud hum/vibrating noise and it can be heard going through different cycles as the noise changes.

The hotpress where the main unit is in middle of the house upstairs and the fan is mounted on metal brackets without any obvious padding on the back wall of the actual house.

The noise is particularly bad in the 2 back bedrooms which are right above the fan. Even in our bedroom at the front of the house is noisy often waking us up at night if it has kicked.
One time I felt the floorboards vibrating where the pipes go from the fan to the main unit.

We've had the builder and the installer in and are both telling us it's normal and we just have to get used to it. They are claiming no fault and are quoting us at least €1200 to take it off the wall but are assuring us it's a waist of money as it won't make a difference.

It makes zero sense to me that it won't help and we are getting more and more frustrated every time the heating kicks in, cursing that we ever bought this house.

I can't believe that this is normal and people are just accepting this noise in New builds across the country and I feel like I'm being lied to which makes it all the more infuriating

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I’ve come across this a few times, the sound travels through the brackets into the house if bolted directly without anti vibration mounts, although they help it’s best to mount the unit on the ground on rubber feet this way the sound doesn’t carry through the walls, also if the pipes are touching the walls or loose they can vibrate.

Also consider a set back at night time which will reduce the heat demand/noise and disable the DHW during the night. Depending on what ecodan you have there is a quiet mode in the installer menu that can be programmed at different times might help until you get it sorted.

They kinda would say that! The noise levels do sound excessive, but there is always some noise with these units. And noise is VERY subjective. What is tolerable to others may not be tolerable to you.

Mitsi are very protective of the brand, so contacting them directly may get you someone who actually knows the equipment

Lots of different factors in play, but it's solvable

I wouldn't mind if i could hear the fan spinning outside, but it's as if the unit is in the bedroom if that makes sense. It doesn't sound like a noise coming from outside.

The fact that they are quoting me but telling me it won't help when every other resource online tells me it will confuses me the most.
It's as if they don't want to do it. Not sure if it's because there are hundreds of other houses in the estate in the same situation and they don't want to be proven wrong.

Should putting it on the ground with rubber feet also reduce the noise from the hotpress where the main unit is? I feel like the loud vibrating pipes running in to the hotpress might make it louder in there.

If it sounded like a noise outside e.g. a car engine running in the driveway, I'd be ok with it but it's as if the car is in the room if that makes sense.

You mention the floor boards vibrating, fitting some suitable flexi pipe between unit and pipes should help and as suggested mount unit on thick rubber mat on ground. The extra material & labour shouldn't cost €1,200 - half this should cover it.

Do you mean between the pipes and the fan outside, or the pipes and the main unit in the house? Thanks.

I believe the added cost is running the pipes up in to the attic and down in to the hotpress rather than under the floor.

Good luck with getting through to them, total waste of time.

I got through to them and they asked a few questions. When I responded they forwarded my response to the installer who responded, making us out to be unreasonable and irrational and that we expected no noise at all.
