I found this weird slime/jellylike substance in the field behind the house. Any idea what it might be?

Frog spawn swells as it absorbs water. Kinda like those beads that swell into rubbery balls when put into water. If not properly formed spawn, it could well look like one blob of goo. Of course, I could be wrong, but it seems most likely explanation to me unless you spotted Arnold Schwarzenegger chasing some aliens across the field recently.

found some in our garden at start of October at that stage it looked whiter almost like chunks of ice, after a few weeks it degraded to that sort of slime in the Op's post
