    Hi all,

Just wondering what is the best way to remove wall tiles from the stud wall. My main concern is damaging the wall.

Any DIY experience on this forum? Good to go with masonry chisel?

    Thanks as always

If the tiles were properly installed there's no way of removing tiles without severely damaging the plasterboard, chunks of it will come off with the tiles.

You could start/test with cutting the grout and chiseling off one of the tiles to confirm that it was plasterboard rather than cement board or some other form of tile backer board used. If plasterboard break a hole and just pull off the wall with tiles included, the plasterboard screws should pull through fairly easily but be careful with weight of combined tiles/plasterboard.

Remove plasterboard back to the studs. Quicker easier to prepare for new tiles and better quality finish. Use a stanley knife and plaster board saw to get a straight edge. Looks worse than it is. Dust is your enemy so put up a plastic wall.

if you want to remove a few tiles and leave the rest then cut the grout and cut the tile apart and chisel it out gently.
if its all the tiles then dont bother trying , just take the slab off and save yourself the hassle and failed attempt .
