    Ones foiled on bothem sides adds to expense. Foil back is for heat retention via reflection. Unless you need that don't buy it.

    Most of the places I've looked into, the foil is described as a damp proof membrane moreso than thermally related. Also I went for thicker underlay to add to sound absorption in bedrooms

    Still confused.

    Have this for bedrooms which has plywood subfloor

    But have a concrete subfloor in one area of house and am struggling to find appropriate underlay. It's not underfloor heating but everything I see refers to that and not just concrete alone. I read it needs a polyethylene layer?

    I've used the Elka comfort lay under quick-step laminate.
    Not cheap but it's good stuff.
    Flooring is quiet and sounds solid when walked on, if that makes sense.
