Vodafone TV/SIRO Own Router

    Hey there,
I bought an ASUS RT-AC68U to replace the Vodafone Gigabox. I set it up & it works perfectly with all devices connected to the internet no hassle.
The only thing that wont connect though it the Vodafone TV box.
If I put the gigabox back in place the tv works again.

Has anyone got Vodafone tv working with their own router?

I would be interested in your solution. I have Vodafone BB and TV and I'm not happy with the gigabox. I would use a third party modem if I knew that it was compatible with both broadband and TV. Cheers.

Well done. How did you do it? I have that router with the VM hub in modem mode. If siro ever come back and finish what they started I'll be going that route.

Im new so i cant put emails in my posts!!! so ill use (at) for the email symbol
    Right as I said,
I have it fixed for my router.
    Downloaded the latest firmware.
The vodafone tv box (using home plugs) is connected into the router.
    WAN port connected to internet.

    Log into the router.
    Left hand side click WAN
    Connection Type PPOE
Username is the serial number (written under your gigabox) of your device (at)vfieftth.ie (eg e817dhnddbsggg(at)vfieftth.ie)
    Password broadband
MAC Address. Also written under your gigabox. eg 4c:98:27:c8:a1:12
    Click Apply

Left Hand side again click LAN
    Click the IPTV tab
    ISP Profile Vodafone (New Zealand)
    Use DHCP routes RFC3442&Microsoft
Enable multicast routing (IGMP Proxy) Enable
Enable efficient multicast forwarding (IGMP Snooping) Enable
    UDP Proxy (Udpxy) 0

    Reboot your vodafone tv box
    This worked for me anyway

That's where the problems started for me, everything related to the usb storage stopped working, caused constant reboots etc.
I downloaded the earlier firmware and normal service was resumed.
Assuming your instructions work with the earlier firmware it's brilliant, thank you very much.

    Hopefully will.
That said though there was literally a new firmware release in the last few days.

Does this work with FTTH or just SIRO?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 varianjv

    For me its VodafoneTV/SIRO
So in my case it worked.

FTTX Is just fibre to the exchange.
I needed the IPTV settings to make sure the Vodafone TV stayed working.
The other settings were to make the internet connection.

    This is great info @varianjv
Unfortunately it's not working for me. Can you explain more about the UDP Proxy (Udpxy) 0 part and the DHCP setting. My TP-Link Archer A50 does not have these settings obvious and I'm trying to research their equivalents. Thanks a million.

Not something you can set on my admittedly older C8.

@cL0h Did you manage to get this sorted? Also have a TP-Link Archer and having trouble getting Vodafone tv to work.

    Hi,

I have RT-AX88U using latest merlin firmware (388.1 as of writing this) and the steps provided by @varianjv works perfectly.
