    Hi ,
Can you replace any light switch with a dimmer, ie will it work with your standard bulb in your sitting room as well as down lighters in your kitchen or bathroom ?
Is it simply take off the switch in your wall and replace it with dimmer ?

For standard bulbs it should be a straight swap. It you have LED lights it can be trickier to match the correct dimmer switch to the lights.

Ah ok, so my best bet would be to take out one of the bulbs and bring them down to an electrical shop and ask for a suitable dimmer?

That's probably the best idea especially if you have led downlights.

You need to check if the bulbs are dimmable. Some are not.

How do you check? Is it on the box or do you literally put a dimmer on and see if it works?
Can you do damage to the wires or anything?

Look for brand and model on the bulb and Google it would be the easiest way. It will likely be on the box too.
