I have a 5.1 surround sound speaker set that I was running off an old Pioneer receiver for gaming. I've gotten a new xBox, it and the TV use eARC I think, I was using the optical out. I'm looking for the cheapest way to keep the speakers working, do I need a new receiver or is there a simpler piece of kit?? This will only ever be used with the xbox so simple is fine

    Hi Elusiveguy.

    Thanks for the post.

You would require an AV receiver that has eARC.
Starting point for an eARC receiver would be the Sony STRDN790 priced at £299 but we are awaiting in fresh stock of this arriving.

Pretty much any receiver priced above this will also do eARC.

You would then connect the new X Box to the TV for picture and then eARC to the amp for audio.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Kenny.

I've had a bit of a play around running the optical connection from the TV to the old receiver. I'll see how I get on with that! If not, the sony will go on the Christmas list :D
