    Trying to sell a house.

Deeds request from bank and posted on 30/10. Given tracking number by bank. Tracking no. not active.

Bank says they dont have them. An Post say they dont have them. Between the bank/an post no one can tell me where they are or if they are lost.

Is this cause to claim they are lost? Its gong to affect sale of house sooner or later if no one can find them.

Check with solicitor who acted on sale to vendor. S/he may have kept copies of the title. That would save time if originals do not turn up

An Post is suffering some severe delays at the moment.

Same solicitor involved. Doesn't appear to have copies.

I've asked for contracts to be sent with copies from original purchase but says he doesnt have them.

My understanding is that 'certified' copy can be got from the land registry (or what ever they are called) but I'd have to get planning permissions dating to the 70s and 80s certificated. How long that could take who knows.

The head of an post was on Newstalk this morning. He was saying there was only a couple of days delay.

So far its been 2 weeks since its been given to An Post with no tracking number yet.

Tracking number not active means it was never scanned in by An Post at all. I'd suspect its literally stuck in the banks mailroom, likely dropped and not in an outbound mail bag.

    This!
@OP it's been labelled and put in the outgoing post and has yet to be either collected, or if collected has yet to get scanned into An Posts system.

We've had this conversation already with you. I have a letter from the bank stating that it has been handed over to An Post which has been forward to my solicitor and the purchaser solicitor. There is no reason not to believe this.

How is An Posts computer system not to be believed?

If they haven't scanned it then its never been in their system.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Bank telling me there are un-scanned in a bag some where and An Post hasn't processed the bag either. It would appear I am not on the only person in this situation.

I don't think thats how registered mail works. The bank doesn't have a signature for the documents or any way of tracking them? afaik the items are scanned when picked up by An Post. If the bank short circuit that by taking a bag load of stuff to the post or giving a driver an unscanned bag of items then its the bank that has lost it, because they have no proof of their actions.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Except if An Post have it, they'd have scanned it. That hasn't changed.

The realistic situation here is the bank never presented that entire bag and are just providing "but An Post..." as cover. Banks are not particularly trustworthy in their statements to the public as I think the entire country should be aware by now.

Bank sending me a receipt from An Post confirm it was handed over.

The bank are likely to send you a statement from An Post stating they made a collection from their mail room at that date and time - it won't confirm that item APxxxxxxxxxxxxxIE or whatever was in it.

the statement from the bank is from An Post and list
    • Docket number
    • date
    • Parcel Account number
    • bar-code referee number
    • weight
    • ship to name & address
    • Amount

Bank stated posted on 30/10 but looks like collected 02/11
