2012 Avensis brake caliper piston won't go back enough

As title, caliper piston won't open enough to get new pads on. Got 1 side done with force. Second side I have pushed the caliper piston back as far as I can but it still will not open enough for pads. I snapped a big steel G clamp so that's how much force I've used. Made a tool but force is unreal. Is there a workaround?

I made a tool identical to official but the force seems too much. Is there a non return in the system or something?

I assume you removed the lid on the brake cylinder in the engine bay?
Or just open the bleed valve, let the fluid out as you push piston in, and refill fluid.

Is this front or rear brakes?

Yes opened lid. Rear brakes. (Handbrake is off :D ). Didn't open bleed nipple. Any risk of having to bleed brakes again if I do?

You don't have to bleed if you keep pressure on and no air is sucked in through the nipple.

Some rear brakes pistons must be rotated back, not just pressed. Google for your car.

    wind back tool id say

Wrong pads or wrong discs? I had one car where vented discs had been fitted but the orignal spec was for plain discs so the disc was thicker and the "correct" pads wouldn't fit.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Definitely the calipers on 2012 Avensis have to be rotated back and not pushed back. You need to get a proper wind back tool to do it right.A long nosed pliers might do it up the are usually tight enough, and also be careful as the can be either clockwise or anti clockwise.

Thanks for help. Released a bit of fluid, made a rewind tool and managed to get it back just enough. Total bitch of a job.
