Im from the area and heard nothing negative about the chap. His stock is decent and seems reasonably priced

    Hi All,
Apologies if I am in the wrong forum.
Am currently abroad and the road tax, insurance and NCT on my two vehicles - 2006 LR Discovery and 2007 Ford Focus have expired.
Would I get a better price if I redo all the above before selling, or should I just have them pre-NCT checked by a mechanic, discount the NCT cost (plus a bit more?) and put them up for sale?
    Thanks

You need actual test on them really.

You could either heavily discount the price or NCT them and get more for them. The pre nct would add no value really

i doubt the 07 focus would be worth an awful lot even with nct

    Hi Again,

I understand that a car does not have to have valid road tax or insurance to undergo an NCT test.
Without them, how can I avoid being fined on driving the vehicle to and from the test centre?
    Many thanks
    Shane

On the back of a recovery vehicle or on a trailer, you can't drive with no insurance or tax. If it is insured and taxed a copy of your NCT booking will do if stopped by the Gardai.

Don't expect anything from life, just be grateful to be alive.

    Many thanks.

Am returning from abroad (Covid permitting) to sell cars and then leave again, so want to minimise expense
No chance of using a RED plate from a friendly garage?
What is the minimum period I can secure road tax and insurance for?

    Many thanks
    Shane

Hi Shane get some lad to take a few pictures of LR discovery and stick it up on donedeal or adverts and if its tidy enough it will sell explain it was parked up and reason for selling, good ones are making good money right now. How long has it been parked up BTW

    Hi Popa Smirf

    Many thanks.

Will give that some thought. It has been parked up for 2 years.
It is very clean, not used for towing.
I recall there being a fair amount of interest in it when I was home.
Many similar vehicles were being shipped off to the UK.

They were a nice yoke the discovery but Road tax 1400 for the year put it through the nct and you going to have to do it all again next year it's going to be a hard sell for you me think.

You _can_ drive to and from the NCT with no tax, it’s specifically called out as an exemption. Insurance is a different matter altogether.

Only if the car is declared off the road I believe.

Driving to the NCT test without an NCT is an offence while driving home after failing is not... AFAIK!!
