I use 1.5 inch metal piping just tied with electric fence cord ( lasts better than baling twine !) have seen people use ratchet straps woven in and out through uprights of barrier also

Saw some pics of ppl using webbing straps instead of a wooden board tied to the bars.

Yea. Pictures on here somewhere. Zig Zag a ratchet strap through at required height and pull tight. We had on pipes and lengths of wood before I saw it.

That's what we do with the ratchet strap too to stop calves getting through.

We’ve done that in the past.

Currently use one inch galvanised pipe with clamps. Very handy and secure.

I find it better as it allows the barrier to open and swing out where the ratchet straps didn’t.

Strap the ratchet strap onto the frame of the diagonal barrier.

Loop the strap through the hole in the hook onto the frame of the barrier.

Our barriers are home made so it wouldn’t work. Pipe was our solution. But once it’s tight the strap is a good job.

I bought 65 of those for €100 in the crash of 2008. Got some use from them.

1 1/2 " swivel clamp and a length of brown band piping

Can adjust your length if pipe then up or down the diagonal

We got the the diagonal feed barrier made a couple of inches narrower on the calf pens. No need for any horizontal pipe. Much safer

Thanks. Where would I get those clamps? Would builder supplies have them?
