Does a gas meter need to be reset when changing suppliers?

    Hi everyone,
I have a reasonably modern apartment (built circa 2007) and recently changed gas suppliers for the central heating. At present the boiler is not firing. I can't find anything obviously wrong with the heating system.
I haven't used the heating in a fairly long time (last February) as the apartment is vacant most of the time so it is not clear to me if the problem is related to the recent change of suppliers or if it is something that occurred between February and now. However, I've checked a few obvious things. There doesn't seem to be any air in the rads (they bleed out water quickly when I open them with a key) and I've got the pressure reading on the boiler to 1.5 bar.
One thing a fella told me is that if you change suppliers you may need to reset the gas meter by pressing some button on it. I'm presently checking with the management company for access to try this.
Do any of the professionals on this forum think that makes sense? I want to be sure it's worth my hassle before badgering the management company too much.

    Thanks

Sounds like you'd be better (and safer) to have you boiler serviced, and the RGI can check all this for you too.

    The 'fella' was talking baloney.

As said, get a qualified engineer out to service it.
