Does anyone find this presenter slightly disturbing looking as well as insufferable to listen to?

The face used to be asymmetric but now it's bizarrely straight, looks plumper and not a visible wrinkle.

My guess is you work in RTE.

No idea why but sadly I don't

Are you on a word budget for the day OP.

    Would MOC be Miriam O'Callaghan.

According to someone to worked with her she is actually one of the few in RTE who is nice.

Is this really worthy of a thread? You think someone at RTE looks weird.

I'd hate to be a public person in Ireland with "critics" like this.

Miriam doesn’t have long left before she has to retire.
    She’d meant to be friendly.

    She’d meant to be friendly.

She was most unpleasant to some staff in crumlin children's hospital . Tried throwing her weight around and played the ''Do you realize who i am'' card

I'd always give people the benefit of the doubt on stuff like this and take these stories with a pinch of salt unless its from someone I know personally, who was there and saw it, and who is someone I trust.

Miriam's brother is a leading member of the FF leadership team which rules out any impartiality on her part. After that the strangulated vowels aren't very becoming.
This is the same with a lot of RTE.

    Behind the camera too.

    Surprised.

But i suppose most irish celebs get like this at some point.

Anne Doyle was terribly like that.

Context needed, trust me you'll pull any card you can when someone belonging to you is sick.

or does the OP mean Muireann O'Connell? She's on rte right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,508 ✭✭✭KevRossi

I used to live near her in Rathmines, she shopped in the same local shop and the same butcher as me. I know the staff as some of them used to drink in Murphy's. She can be very unpleasant to staff if they don't deal with her promptly, very picky and has a bit of a superior air about her. She can also be very nice, but usually unpredictable.

She also dumps her car where she feels like it, even if it is 'for 5 minutes'.

Aine Lawlor is another neighbour, as is Ken Doherty and Gay Mitchell. All three are very pleasant people.

arrived in with sick child and started telling nurses what tests needed to be done and in what order they were to be done in , played the ''do you know who i am'' card and ''i have contacts'' when she was told that staff were dealing with an emergency and she demanded to see nurse in charge . Enter the sister , MOC went off on flyer and when she finished the sister told her they would be following hospital protocol when dealing with her child and they would not tolerate members of the public telling them how to diagnose or look after sick kids .
luckily the kid was fine. I can understand a parent being stressed in a situation with sick kid but the vast majority don't throw their weight around .

That's unsurprising. Saccharine public people are often like this in real life

What for being able to read an autocue and wear kitchen cutlery around her neck?

    Good for the ward sister.
Do you know if MOC was disciplined by RTE/the government for abuse of her position?

the ''ward sister'' as you called her was a great nurse but by f..k she took no **** from anyone
the nursing staff didn't , to the best of my knowledge , do anything about it .

I had referred to MY sister in a previous post . Worded it badly when i said ''enter the sister '' should have said ''my sister '' . She was a nurse but was in the management side of it at the time .

Wow, yet another thread “bashing” a successful, intelligent, womxn. Quelle surprise!

Seriously, could there not be one of those “private forums” set up so that the angry men on this site can fire their hate at women involved in “public life” so the rest of us don’t have to endure it.

Round up all the “usual suspects” and direct them to ‘The He-Man Woman-Hater’s Club’. Might be good way for them to deal with all their issues and to make new friends.

She was very unplesant to me on the phone once. Even threw in a "Don't you know who I am?".

I know people who severed her in hotels and she was meant to have being alright.
When she came in with the family they’d have to join loads of tables together.

She'd probably need more than a few pints to let you ride her.

I wouldn't be a big fan of her show or interviews but I do know a family she helped out a lot with some charity work, gave up a lot of her time and seemed very nice and helpful to them with fundraising and organising events etc. She used her name to help them by pulling other people on board but it wasn't posted all over the place that she was doing anything and looking for attention or thanks for it.

I have met a few members of the O'Callaghan family and all were lovely. Never met Miriam herself, but met one of her stunning daughters at the races once, really nice girl and sound out.

Colour me on the "MOC" side of things. Though I have no clue nor interest in her political leanings or personal life, I found her to be very courteous with a genuine warmth behind it.
