I have come across one or two vw with this problem. Your problem could posssiblly be that the car is immobilised and the fault is in the clocks. The immobiliser is ran through the clocks in that year vw.

Now that diagnosis is just my gut of course I’d need to see the car and also plug it in. As there are thousands of different fault codes that could show so it could be anything. But as my gut is saying your prob going to need a set of clocks. So it’s normally a main dealer job unless u know a mechanic who’s running odis diagnostics that would be able to code the clocks for ya.

    Keep us posted anyway

Immob cant stop communication. This is a problem with a canbus module gone down, as in the ecu is not getting power or the clocks. Check relays first is my advice. The car is not immobilised and also is unlikely to be the clocks/ ecu itself but possible. Most good diag tools can code nee ecu clocks, no need for a dealer.

Don't think it is anything to do with the clocks all is working good that side it just stopped on the road ignition will come on won't Crank over but fan is running and power steering working when ignition is on and when put battery back in big spark when key is out of the car checked the battery it's OK can't find any problem with relays. Don't know we're to look next

Can you connect to the engine ecu with a proper diagnostic? Id imagine the engine ecu is not getting power so is not turning on.
