    Hi all,

How you guys are doing accounting/bookkeeping for business purposes? I mean... Stripe provides invoices for the total of monthly transaction fees?

    Thanks

I've used both QuickBooks and Xero, both are pretty good. Xero is a little more complicated in my experience though and not sure if QuickBooks is available in Ireland.

Waveapps are closing down their service outside US & Canada.

What are the alternatives as it was great to use for the past 3 years.
Any EU based suggestions for a small business.

Haven't had time to review these yet or check for any issues based on location etc but here's a few I have seen recommended in no particular order

    https://www.pandle.com/
https://www.zoho.com/books/ - this is the one Wave mentions in the email

    https://www.xero.com/

We use Xero along with Revolut business. Xero can do all the invoices and send them as well along with reminders if needed. You can use go cardless/stripe with xero as well so that the invoices include links to pay with card automatically.

The good thing about Revolut Business and Xero is that transactions into the bank automatically go into Xero and can be reconciled.

We have this set up as well. Xero has a steep-ish learning curve in my opinion and is geared more towards accountants than regular joes. That said, it can pretty much do everything.

Word of warning though, Irish banks have terrible integration capabilities. I've lost count how often the feed between BoI and Xero broke, so we exclusively use Revolut now.

I'm not sure how long you have been using stripe as a payment handler, I have had very stressful experiences with stripe

Stripe Refunded my clients money after products had been sent and delivered with tracking details, I achieved over 8k with of sales with 2 months some time afterwards stripe said my business module did not meet the stripes business policy and proceeded to automatically refunded every single one of my clients moneys without a clear reason or given my office an option to explain any thing the wish to ask

I explained to my clients / customers the situation with the payment handler and I requested the payment to be repaid direct to my company bank account or we could arrange a courier to collect the goods at a date and time that suit them

around 40% clients made re-payment, the other 60% refused to communicate back to us, calls rang out, sms text messages were delivered and seen by the recipient, registered post to their address where signed for, emails when un-replied too

after daily emails to stripe customer care they eventually stopped sending out there automated response message

so when I see adverts.ie and donedeal.ie offered strip as an option to pay for there classified add - its boils my p%ss

Good we sell are Flat Screen Tvs, CCtv Cameras Laptops and Smartphones, the smartphones we can report lost at any moment of time with the IMEI solutions, My main beef is with stripe.ie

We use Sage. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned already.

Were you selling dodgy boxes? Stripe wouldn't refund people off their own back unless they suspect fraud or criminal activity. I've been using them for about 5 years. Never had an issue.

we were clearing 30 - 50% profit on high value items, those dodgy tv boxes would be making very small returns compared to our products.

We were just another victim of stripes long list of startup companies that was treated extremely badly and we got burnt by lot of euros.

some online reviews had been using stripe for years until they received there 1st suspension notice, If we traded for 6 months using stripe and the refunds went out we would have been a lot worse off

here is just 1 pages of hundreds, with almost every review at 1 star (the 1 star because it doesn't allow a zero star rating)
