Use oil here, cheap to use but setting it up is dear

    Is electricity much more expensive??

With oil or gas you have tanks and cylinders to deal with and flu pipes etc.

Hot water tanks are mighty simple in comparison and reliable too.

Do folk plumb drop down hoses from plate cooler, I always thought it would be a few rows of cold water which would be a Pain.

Plate cooler generally goes to the wash down pump.
