Surveyor Query

    Hi all

We recently went sale agreed on a house and the surveyor is due to have a look at it on Wednesday. He is going to meet the REA for the keys and said he will send on the report to us after.

Would it be normal practice that he would look at the property without us present or should we be there for when he's doing it? Also do surveyors always check the attic or do you need to ask for this?

    Thanks a mil :)

No need for you to be there
They should go in to the attic with a strong flashlight to check for leaks, insulation ,water tank ,roof etc

If there are any particular points that you want to raise, raise them before the surveyor goes to site.

Cracks around windows, especially diagonal ones or signs of same being buttered up. Another sign of structural issues is doors hard to close.
There’s a lot worse than a dodgy slate or two.

Not normal for purchaser to be there.
Even more so now during COVID.
Surveyor should be checking whole site for planning issues, boundary issues and then whole house for obvious visual issues.

Anything that’s covered can’t be seen.
He will always recommend a electrical check and a gas check by the relevant qualified people.
