    Hi,

I've a 2011 Audi A5 Sportback S Line with a 2.0 TDI engine and 85,000kms on the clock. It has a few minor cosmetic issues but otherwise in great shape. It was a demonstrator in the UK and has a lot of extras.

My service garage has offered me €7k for it. I anticipated it being worth more like xxk for a private sale.

Any thoughts on Auction, Trade or Private Sale?

    Thanks.

My service garage has offered me €7k for it. I anticipated it being worth more like 10k for a private sale.

Any thoughts on Auction, Trade or Private Sale?

    Thanks.

I think you answered your own question.

Donedeal it. Where you based, ive a mate looking to buy audi around that year, dublin based... is it auto ? 7k, its lower mileage than anything on carzone and going on those prices, a dealer would be looking at nearly double what the snakes have offered you. Why are you looking to change ?

All done and dusted for €10.5k. I had very little hassle at all, the first guy to come see it bought it. We went to the bank together this morning and bought a bank draft. He filled out the logbook and I posted it off. He drove the car home.

I'd definitely sell privately again. I've sold at auction before and that was more hassle and stress to be honest. Obviously the local service garage's offer wasn't great. I might have got more if I'd put more time into it and prepped it a bit more, but happy with the result.

I'm emigrating btw, that's the reason for sale. The car was doing zero mileage anyway. Cycling everywhere these days anyway.

Thanks for the information and advice. I just have a similar problem now and also had a choice, but thanks to your story, I will follow in your footsteps. I think I will not regret it!
    Good luck!

I paid €8 for a Motorcheck valuation. I'd be interested in others opinions on this.

    Vehicle Condition Private Trade
    Excellent €11457 €7265
    Good €10202 €6265
    Poor €9156 €5439

It gave me confirmation bias as the top end of the trade valuation was close to the offer I got.
