Hi All - apologies if Im posting in the wrong forum.

A guy is my job drives a motorbike and is currently on his second learners permit which was due to expire so he wanted to apply for a 3rd one to which he was advised he need to apply for his driving test and send proof of it before they could issue him with a 3rd permit. He done this and then went and applied for the permit but they sent him out a full driving licence in error. He hasn't even got a date for his test yet.

Where does he go from here - does he contact the NDLS and tell them they sent the wrong licence or who does he contact to rectify this?

Who else would he contact - the HSE?

because he isn't licensed and knows he isn't and would get real grief if he drove on pretending he had a full license.

Because he didn't actually pass his test and received it in error. If anything was to ever happen he wouldn't be covered by his insurance if the error was discovered?

But nobody ever asks if you’ve passed a test, they will ask if you “hold” a full license, and the answer would be yes.

He now holds a full license, therefore he is licensed.

I more so meant that if the NDLS somehow discovered their mistake. could the retract his licence? Or is it a case of now he is in the system as having a full licence and it wont be look at again until its due for renewal in 10 years time

The third party part of the insurance would be ok, not so sure about any "Fully Comp"

I doubt if this was true, holding an invalid license could/should not count.

The is always the danger that he got the license because he filled out the form incorrectly, and then he could be "done" for something

I had this many moons ago. Applied for a replacement provisional A licence and got a full B in the post. I was young and not interested in cars so went into the tax office and told them. It was in the system as a full A and they commended me on my honesty.

It was all sorted there and then but even now there are notes on my profile about it. OP , tell your friend to notify NDLS. It'll come back and bite him in the bum otherwise.

NDLS is the issuer so that's where to start.
