    Hi All,

Has anyone bought a car from Copart in Northern Ireland with no V5 ? Is this a big issue when it comes to paying VRT in Ireland ?

    Thanks

Yes it is. As per the NCT website regarding what documentation you need to VRT/register an imported car here, the V5c registration cert is certainly required. If you turn up without it they will not VRT it.

Is it possible to apply for a new v5 document ? I have read that a UK address is needed as the DVLA will not post to Ireland.

Generally as a rule they won't post a replacement to a non UK address or even a freight forwarding address. You could get lucky and someone in the DVLA might send it but that would be pure luck and you could incur late VRT penalty fines if it doesn't arrive within 30 days of the car coming into the country.

Just save yourself a load of hassle and either get Copart to sell you the car with the proper v5c or buy one of the thousands of cars that come with one.

you'll be waiting 5 months for a replacement v5 document from th DVLA in swansea at the moment, they've only got a skeloton staff working in the offices processing the backlog. I had to go through a company in newry "EMK transport" they had it in 4 weeks for 150 euro

I used EMK to transport a car over in July, very good service. The contact number for whatsapp is 087 2809 481.
