Auctions UK

I have a guy can buy me in a car from auctions in the UK. He can source a 2 year old grade 1 with low miles for about 3k less than a main dealer.

There won't be any warranty with the car. He reckons they're VAT qualifying. Possibly they're ex-motability? I know nothing about how that scheme works.

Are there any pitfalls or major issues I should be aware of? He takes a flat fee for the service, 1k.

Auction prices in UK are generally about 1k/2k cheaper than prices you will see in supermarkets over there - these supermarkets make small mark-up and turn stock quickly. Might be as cheap buying off one of those where you can see the car yourself

1k is far too much. Is that plus auction fees or including?

That includes fees, excluding transport. It still works out a grand or 2 better than a dealer.

I suppose that’s fairly reasonable for cars above £10k or so as the auction fees are around £400-£500 anyway.

Flipping Cars are another option for this and Ive heard they are cheaper. The commission they pay isn't anything like the commission you are charged as a private buyer.

I'd be surprised if they end up being 3k cheaper than a U.K. dealer unless its a very expensive car

    https://www.bca.co.uk/Documents/UK/Buyers%20Fees/BCA_Buyers_Fees_Blue_Standard_August_2020.pdf

For anyone walking in the fee's for auction price of £1000 is £390 ,10 k its £700 and 20 k £ 1000, if you have an account its about half.

You can sign up to to BCA and search for cars that tickle your fancy, they have FAQ also, the grade system can sometimes be hit and miss,

I got my mitsubishi outlander nearly 2 years ago through auction with the help of Matt from https://www.londoncarbrokers.com/, with vrt and everything else it came to 18000 euro, I see donedeal and some dealers are asking that much now for the same year/km etc.

Matt will help you purchase from a forecourt also.

    Best of luck.
