Extending wifi to shed

    Hi guys,

Not sure this is the right place to post this. Plesee move if not.
I've run Cat7 cable to shed and connected up a 2nd router. Assigned a fixed ip address to the slave router (shed router). I've added the no. 1 to the slave wifi name.

When I go back into the house my phone remains on the slave router name. What's the best way to.set the wifi in shed so that it is seamless moving between the house and shed.

    Would appreciate any advice...

Have you checked your phone WiFi settings? There should be an option to auto connect to different WiFi devices

Thanks. The problem is that there is a slight overlap of the signal from the shed and the house wifi. Therefore i have to manually change over to the house wifi router name...
1st world problems I know... but wondering how it's possible to do seamlessly.

Is it a proper mesh network? If so, should be seemless.

If not you will need to turn down the power in the shed WiFi unit, so it has less range.

Thanks, no - not a mesh network. I've set the channel to 12 on the slave wifi. Will turn down the power on the slave. The channel is set to automatic on the master wifi. Lowering the power shoukd work. Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated

Set them to the same name and password. Then you'll roam better.

Seemed like the right idea but unfortunately the slave wifi at its lowest power level is still overlapping with the master wifi signal. There is the option of configuring the slave router as a range extender rather than an access point. Not sure how this works in relation to the master wifi.

Would be grateful if anyone has suggestions...

I'd rather not turn the power level down on the master as this will effect the signal upstairs...
