Guys i have just noticed a weard problem, when i turn on main beam and dip on my bike, when off idle,s at 1500 rpm but when turn on light drops to 1000,900 rpm. Also at low revs while riding the bike hesitates below 4000rpm?i have ballanced the carbs, new oil, plugs, filter, cleaned the carbs and the battery is at 12.5v,Also guys yous might hear at 1000,900 rpm in the video there is a rattle from the bike,Would this be the clutch springs,Any info would be great

This seems to be two separate problems.

First one, you turn on the lights and what happens?

If your lights are acting up it's probably the rectifier.

Then what's the second problem, I'm confused by your post tbh. Your mentioning hundreds of thousands of rpm

Goose I think Seamus is saying that when the lights are off the bike idles at 1500rpm
when the lights are on the Idle speed drops to between 900 and 1000 rpm
and she hesitates below 4000 rpm

I was a little confused when I first read it as i had 2 tinnys last night after my battle with the V

Like you I think it could possibly be 2 issues

Seamus says the battery voltage is 12.5 but is that when it is running or off 12.5 when it is running would prob indicate an issue with the charging system

Not familiar with that bike does it have coils or HT leads ? Seamus

Classic reg/rec problem, and something Kwaks of the era are known for.

Had it on my ZZ-R4 and ZZ-R6.

Get yourself an uprated version, preferably the MOSFET type.

What should happen is that as the revs rise the lights should get brighter as the voltage rises from about 13 to 14.5, which is in or around where a healthy system would be with the revs around 3k rpm.

Feel the reg/rec and see if it is hot. It might be breaking down.

The other thing to check is the big connector going to the reg/rec from the stator. They can corrode and it loads the system badly.

It's probably a good idea to stick to one thread about your bike, instead of opening loads of different ones.

I suggested before that your off-idle low rev stuttering problem was probably a bad coil, did you look into that?

When you offer people suggestions and they ignore them and then come back with another thread with similar issues it's a bit of a pisser tbh.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.
