There are a number of business now offering a covid solution and proprietary streaming via their website, e.g. https://www.ifihome.ie/

Our TV is not smart and we have Sky Q. I also have a 4k Firestick and a Chromecast. Our wifi in the house is not great due to lots of concrete, I have the chromecast and firestick connected via Ethernet.

Is there a better solution to stream from such websites than casting from my phone?

I emailed them a firestick 2 weeks ago and they said thanks for the feedback they would see in the future!

I was playing with that. Opening the file browser at that URL I try and download the 1.1.0 IFI player app. It says downloading is not supported at this time. It's the same if I try and download the TG4 app.

    Any advice appreciated.

Get a Roku and use the Roku IFI app. I have tried every steaming system and Roku is hands down the best.

Have you tried changing the firestick settings to allow apps from other sources?

Ok, I remembered that I need to use the downloader app not the silk browser. I download the if 1.1 APK and TG4 also while I was at it. TG4 app works perfectly but when I click on the IFI app it shows a black screen initially and then returns to the app list with the IFI app still highlighted. I uninstalled and re-downloaded with the same result. Sigh.

It turns out the ifi@home app has a cast button, works ok. We had freezes every 2 minutes for some reasons even though we had a good wifi connection so it was not usable so back to the laptop.
